More than anything we want to see Jesus impact every community in Houston! And we’ve seen how skateboarding can be used to foster friendship and self-worth in low-income neighborhoods … and we want to see more of it! The joy in a kids smile when they go down a ramp for the first time … a kid feeling affirmed as you watch them skate … holding a kids hand as they attempt their first drop-in on a ramp.
The 7more dream - release Christian skaters into low-income areas to bring Jesus to kids.
As many of the kids cannot afford to skate we bring in all the boards and ramps – they can use all of our gear - but we also provide a way for them to buy a skateboard over a couple of months. Kids can earn 7more bucks through Bible verse memorization. The dream is to allow every kid the chance to build their own skateboard with us – this would give at least an hour of one-on-one time building a board, explaining all the verses that are on the deck graphic, praying with them, hearing their story, and on and on … Because the kids can keep the board they build you have their full attention! How cool is that?!
Another angle of 7more is that we are continually running into local skaters all over the city. We have been pursuing different ways to reach them ... and keep in touch ... and draw them into more opportunities where we can bring Jesus to them. Playing off skaters dreams of being spotted [every kid wants to be noticed!] we've created a site where they can promote their skills - they can upload video's and have them rated - if they get enough votes they win a free deck. The site promotes Jesus through relevant testimony and video while building an online community of local skaters. Monthly we will hold gatherings at the different skateparks, give out decks and continue to promote Jesus while building the 7more community.
